As a self-confessed Razer fanboy, I can tell you the following:
1) Their products are absolutely desirable
2) I'm not too convinced about the long-term build quality
3) They're expensive for what they offer
I'm typing this on a Deathstalker Chroma, and there's a Diamondback
Chroma lying next to it. The keyboard isn't the greatest in the world,
but still set me back a cool €120. The mouse was €100.
Are they worth it, if you simply look at value for money? No.
So why the hell did I buy them? Well, they have this lovely rainbow
pattern gliding slowly from left to right (downwards on the mouse),
synchronised. It's like looking at a lava lamp, really relaxing, almost
therapeutic.
Before, I had a backlit Logitech scissor-switch keyboard. The cat broke
it because she pushed herself off from the Samsung tablet that was lying
in front of the keyboard on top of some papers, and the tablet's case
knocked off the L key. There was just no way that I could fix it, and
Logitech don't sell spare parts.
More or less the same happened with my Logitech K810 Bluetooth keyboard
-their stuff is just flimsy- where the F6 key broke off. I still use it,
but testing in Netbeans means using the mouse, which happens to be a
Razer Taipan, still going strong after a couple of years. But that
replaced another Razer mouse, and the Diamondback Chroma is the third
Razer mouse I have at home, because either the micro-switches in the
buttons stopped working, or the glue in the mouse wheel disappeared.
With the Razer keyboard, I doubt that either the cats or I will manage
to break it, but it's only a couple of months old. Their mechanical
keyboards with Cherry switches are as good as you'd expect them to be,
but my goodness, that price tag is astronomical.
