I admire the attempt to structure a 10 minute piece, but I think it's unsuccessful...
The first 30 seconds are flawless and interesting, but then it doesn't really capture attention until the main synth melody comes in aroun 2'38, which could come in directly around 30" if you're serious about composing this. The spoken word samples around 3'30 are a cliché, and undermine the credibility of the track. Superb sonic pallette, although you're ignoring rules that you surely know, in order to get a certain amount of music completed. For my ears, the original improv lacks any of these shortcomings, although I agree that the challenge of composition is very worthwhile; it just takes a whole lot more energy than one would like to admit ;)
