My feeling is that he didn't have enough time to pass through the stages 
of grief, given that it was only discovered in early July. Just over 
three months ago. I saw the messages, too, and really did hope that the 
treatment would take hold. But it was the sort of hope where a little 
voice in the back of your head points to the statistics.

The most upsetting for me is his little boy. He's too young to be able 
to remember his dad as time passes. He'll only have photos and videos to 
look back on. We remember Denis and Gert, as do their loved ones, but 
little Rowan wasn't given that privilege.
