A good way to get a ‘cheap’ Z1 (though half the poly) is to dig up Korg Triton with the Moss Board installed. It was only 6 voices, but the D/A conversion and FX were, in my opinion, far superior to the Z1. Because it’s a ‘rompler’, and an old one..I’d guess they can be had very reasonably.
And, on the upside, you’ve also got that Triton engine for when you want an ear-splittingly bright piano tone.
