the season is over... what's up next year?

I survived the triathlon season ;-) No injuries, lot's of personal bests
(not so hard for a first year;-), met some crazy people and again
learned a lot about myself.
I was training 10h/week, swimming 5km/week, biking 120km/week, running
40km/week.
I had to change a lot of habits to be able to do this;
wake up at 6,00 (instead of 7,30) and bike to work (40km) or going for a
1hr run or even worst go swimming in an outdoor (freezing) pool.
work less hours (but still do the same amount of work) so I had to
improve my productivity and delegate more stuff (I'm a production
manager of a Cu smelter) My focus has improved, and my vision for my
team also.
Increase the quality of the wife / children time
Increased food care. I followed a strict diet, but allowed for some
chocolate and chips from time to time.
No more TV, you tube or www nights as I wanted to keep making music.
Abandoned local politics as this serves no purpose.
I spend over 5k€ on material (bike, watch, ...) so bey bey bonus!
Why?
I quit smoking some years ago and picked up running (and last year
swimming) to make it all visual for me.
But I was getting bored of running around in the forests here, I needed
a purpose.
Results?
This weekend was my last race, a 1/4 team triathlon, I was the swimmer
(1,1km), my sister did the bike ride (40km) and a friend was running
(10k). We ended on position 20 of 177, not so bad after all.
Best 1/8: 0:58
Best 1/4: 2:28
And I feel so much better! I really get a kick out of the trainings. I
like having a 6 pack too! ;-)
What's up next year?
I'll be doing more races. Lot's of 1/8 and 1/4. In 2019 I hope to do a
couple of 1/2 and in 2020 I'll be doing my first whole triathlon
I need to get my swimming start better, need to be more aggressive.
I need to increase my biking power.
I need to increase my running speed.
I don't want to be one of the pack, I want to be in front!
Apparently now that the season is over, I can have a short break, but I
think I'll pass that one. I'll be taking it easy for a couple of weeks,
but I need my endorphins ;-)
Cheers,
ToAd
