Andy, you still can plug it to an fx machine and record it like the old time ...
This said I really like the concept of exporting in ableton but in reality it seems not practical and this is the reason why I didn't order one yet. But please let us know when you have it :) I am very curious, hopefully there will be a new firmware update soon that will solve all those as you mentioned but somewhere I am doubting, (I hope that I m wrong) ...

The issue as it stands now is in certain cases if you change patterns the release/effects tails of your sounds do not carry over. This can sound abrupt. The problem supposedly is the DSP can not handle this, since it would involve multiple effects proccessing. There are work arounds, if you have the same type of effects and or sounds on the same pads in multiple patterns etc… the tails will carry over fine. The reason I think the issue shows up a lot to people is there is only one reverb on the machine and it is on the master effect. If your next pattern doesn’t have reverb on the master your tail will cut off. If they both have it it will be fine. Supposedly this tail issue is going to be fixed in the next update, but most normal people seem fine with it and just seeing it a limitation of the machine.

It’s only frustrating for people in that you have no idea how much dsp you are using and when you are going to run out.

Looks like it exports all the audio in mono and any panning you have in your project do not carry over. Also I don’t think the master effect is included in any of the audio since it’s one effects that is bussed. Finally, this one is unavoidable really, in the 4 bar loops that it exports you will not have the tails of your sounds at the end of the 4th bar appear in the beginning of the first bar. The only way, obviously, to do that would be to record a second 4 bar loop and edit accordingly, but I don’t think you can have the machine export the 4 bars twice.

There are hundreds of oscillators to choose from and each can be edited using a filter, modulation and amp/eg. Everything is familiar which makes it great and fun to work with.
