Behringer

I have to agree with Jay. Behringer isn't evil. I've owned some of their products and never been disappointed (of course, you get what you pay for....don't expect it to sound like an SSL).
Recently, I've really had a keen eye on their digital mixers. They have some really fascinating stuff there. Their controller keyboards with motorized faders also have me intrigued.
As far as their rep for stealing.....Go read up on your history as I believe there were more than a few lawsuits that flew between the various synth manufacturers at the time for being copycats. And how many synth's have 24db ladder filters or SEM implementations in them? Oscillator -> Filter -> Amplifier again, again and again....
Business is business. It's not a nice game. Every business plays it to the edge of the rules and as far beyond as they think they can go without getting caught. Behringers only real fault was they did what everyone does but didn't bother to hide it well.
..and you can't say their stuff is cheap crap mass manufactured by the lowest bidder in China anymore because, well...that's everyone now.

Stealing ideas is what the music industry is all about. I don’t think it should matter as much as it seems to, for some people. What matters in the end is, did the audience enjoy the music? Behringer are doing good work in taking a few manufacturers down a peg or two, I think .. it may not be ‘nice’, but its also not nice being charged eu5000 for a piece of equipment that costs eu200 to make, and that is a very, very common occurrence in this industry. Everyone does it.
