Keep the SH101 - because it is a truly awesome, classic synth - and either get a KentonCV module to add to it so you can control it/sync its sequencer over MIDI, or add a Mutable Instruments Anushri .. Which is awesome .. In fact just go the Anushrio route. Combined with the SH101 you have a serious jam system .. two sequencers, a drum system, two independent synths, and lots of fun.

Whatever you do, don’t modify the SH101 unless you really think you’re going to keep it forever in the family.  Its much healthier for the machine to treat it as the basis of a small modular-like system.  Its CV/Gate can be the basis of a lot of great stuff, not just Anushri, but its an especially nice pairing, SH101+Anushri.
