Haven’t tried all the recommendations (lower in the thread) but there are some interesting new apps in this list that look mighty handy - so I’d be very happy to hear about your experience if you’re in an experimental mood.

Personally, I wish someone would bring back Sonic Foundry Sound Forge (pre-Sony acquisition) .. that was simply one of the most pleasant audio-editors I used back in the day ..
