Well, I don’t know if the SCiO is too good to be true, but I have one of these that I’ve been playing with:

Its pretty neat .. I guess the SCiO thingy is similar (or maybe it uses completely different technology), but yeah .. there is something pretty StarTrek’ish about having ones own spectral/molecular analyzer..  ;)
