Win7 or Win8.1?

I've got Win 8.1 on my surface.  I haven't done full DAW work on it, but what audio work I have done has been flawless. 
I have other issues with how Win8 works that keep me from upgrading my DAW OS.  It just completely lacks 'flow'.

As mentioned, I need a new DAW but Im considering just using my i7 3.4Ghz porn PC rather than buy a new PC exclusively for music. Question: Is Win8.1 still a complete “NO” for music?  If so, ill have to rebuild and install Win7.. Ta, PaulLondonwww.punkdisco.co.uk
