Your guess is probably spot on, but I have a feeling its also going to be a tabletop unit. They keep emphasizing 'small'. Something made as an extension to the brute, perhaps, but that can also run on it's own.
In any case, the brute didn't really do it for me (I know...I am that guy) but a small form factor table top synth just might depending on if they bulk up the CV interface.
Also, and maybe it was just my luck with the first run, they have got to improve quality control on their hardware. The first run Origins apparently had lots of problems, too (mine is a later one). My brute had a lot of little things that added up to me selling it.
