Tempest

I do a ton a programming. I think it is the filter I don’t like and I
believe it is the same on all of his products. It just lacks life of any
sort. I have a similar response to the Moog Voyager stuff. I just find
them to be lifeless. I have a Machinedrum UW and I like it but the kick is
pretty anemic.
FYI, after I eat here I’ll be off to ship your Origin. ;)

How much editing did you do? I think the biggest flaw in DSI stuff is the
preset programming which is absolutely atrocious. The PEK, for example,
can be a great sounding synth if you stop trying to recreate old prophet VS
presets and moogs on it.
I don't like the new price on the Tempest, but the used price is not bad
considering the competition (MachineDrum UW, JoMoX 999/888, Vintage
Roland).
I keep thinking I want a drum machine...but I don't know. Drums are at
the end of my workflow and not that important.

I sat down with one at a friends and I was really underwhelmed, especially
given the price tag. It just really left me flat. That being said, I

I talked to a few people who have one, and both said it was "the drum
machine they always dreamed of". I also played with it a bit at knobcon
and came away impressed.
It has some UI issues from what I gather, but you get used to them. DSI
has also been pretty good about implementing new features based on user
requests.
Now that they are available second hand, I've thought about giving one a
go....someday. The fact is I really just don't need a drum machine.

Anyone play with one? I sort of wrote it off as being over priced, but on
taking a closer look, it looks cool as shit, and sounds pretty amazing.
