Eventide Space

ok, I had this box for a couple of days for a test:
very nice sounding reverbs, some nice special fx, but most of them just can't keep up with the
harmonic structure of my sounds. They just diminish ...
it's happiest with something simple like a sine wave.
well, a guitar delivers something like that, eventually.

however, I found some issues which are strange to find in this league (with the current software v3.2):
 - some algorithms are pretty easy to overdrive internally, but without the red clip led going on!
 - the three momentary (!) foot switches are certainly sturdy but awfully loud.
 - the `shimmer` algorithm has some very bad tuning input. in fact it should be possible to set the two delay lines
to max. +/- 2400 cents but the related x and y pots jump in 4ths and 5ths and such.
If you're fast enough you could use the encoder but then again you find yourself turning in more than 200 cents
for eg a minor 6th intervall. apparently that's adressed in v4 which is in public beta right now.
- when editing your hand is obscuring the display

the good thing of this test is, I didn't find the Roomverb M1 in my Chameleon that bad, compared to the Eventide.
I managed to program some presets which sound quite similar on both units (just reverbs of course)

when working with Space I could see it's origin and the experience Eventide have in this field.
I wouldn't say it's overpriced but for that money a small computer w/ audio interface and some SC or Pd patch
would do much more for me.

  ;-) Michael.
