Audio interface

So my original MOTU 828 finally gave up the ghost after almost 11
years. I'm not trying to decide what to get and I've narrowed it down
to 2 choices:

MOTU 828mk3 Hybrid - I read some good things about this unit but a
friend told me a story of someone who has issues with 2 units (not
sure if it was the original mk3 or Hybrid).
RME FireFace 400 - This would be a no-brainer if it wasn't for the
price. If my music store contact can give me an incredible deal on it
the this is what I will get. The one problem I have with this is that
this unit has been around for 5 years while the MOTU was updated this
year. For some reason that bothers me.

I'm looking to get rid of the Mackie mixer between my interface and
speakers and the MOTU seems to be able to fit the bill.
