I had a 309 with expansion for about 8 months 

while it did have a nice thick kick, it's definitely digital sounding

it felt limited in its OS and its work flow

I sold it to a synth collector for $400, and don't miss it one bit 

My MPC and recent Octatrack have filled its sonic / desk space 

if you found one for $250US sure, pick it up

but these days I'd only consider an analog drum machine for my needs 

like a Jomox 999, Tempest, or Acid Lab Miami http://www.acidlab.de/
