Saying the Mayans predicted the world will end in 2012 is like saying Justin Bieber predicts the world will end on 31st December 2012... The evidence is exactly the same, that's when their respective calendars stop. 

All the Mayans actually predicted is that there wouldn't be much need for a Mayan calendar that goes beyond 2012... and considering the current state of Maya (the civilization not the rendering software*) they were right.

Here's to a Bieber-free 2013
