I've just come back from holiday at Lake Garda and Verona, just down the
road from Venice ;)

I used a universal travel adaptor but then I had UK appliances to plug
in.

The sockets we had were Type F CEE 7/4 (German "Schuko" 16 A/250 V
grounded) here:

There will always be a shaver socket available.
