Listening a second time, I hear the triggering latency is somewhat less 
disturbing, cos the instruments he's playing have physical components one would 
expect a delay from. Perhaps he's quantizing some played back tracks too, but, 
it's an interesting situation where it all hangs together well, like some crazy 
musical contraption.

Thinking about Conlon Nancarrow and the physical relationship between an 
inspiring musical contraption and the music that's produced, I think Metheny has 
landed on his feet.

Metheny was always creating this music, but for those of us less inspired by the 
smooth jazz guitar sound, it was hidden.
