I still use audacity, but, IMO, it's got worse in recent years. I used to work 
really fast with it, but now it crashes once in a while, and still the UI 
workflow, is... discontinuous.

For a great example of audio on Linux, I'd quickly point at ardour, which I now 
use if recording even stereo tracks. You just kinda know you're in a serious 
studio when that thing's running.
