yeah, this is a great idea actually .. check out the lasertag apps from the
GRL guys for inspiration:

you could take their app, then use laser pointers all over the stage to
trigger different events.  in the 'must engage the audience attention by
giving them pretty things to look at' department, you can't get more
audience-appealing than having a big screen with nice graphics on it, being
attacked by laser dots in the hands of the actors/performers, setting off
MIDI and QuartzComposer (if you like) explosions and whatnot ..
