And fyi for anyone interested I did find out that there is a bad way  
and a good way to enable the full desktop, the bad way leaves you with  
a machine that always boots up into easy mode and then you must  
restart to full desktop, and it does not save anything on your desktop  
upon reboot. The good way has the machine always boot into the last  
used mode and saves desktop files plus gets rid of the annoying what  
do you want me to do with this box for the sm card. I'm sure there are  
a ton of other ways to do things but the first set of instructions  
worked good for me.
