That's horrible man :( but...! Like others have said... if you didn't  
use the disk and it's 'just' partitioned and formatted, the bits are  
still on the disk. Unless you selected something like 'zero out all  
data', which normal partitioners don't do by default. What was the  
original partition type? Ext3 too?

The drive which dropped might also be recoverable. Very often it's the  
electronics which bail out. If you can find the same drive you can  
swap the PCB's...
