I have since had a half hour on one during a visit to a local shop, and yeah .. I concur with Tony on the quality issue, however I found the workflow very intuitive and smooth and enjoyable and I’m not at all bothered by the ‘digital cheapness’ of the raspberry Pi angle. Although the factory presets were very uninspiring at first, once I grok’ed the UI it was easy to take things into other territories. I really like the idea of an upgradeable digitalsynth market taking root finally, so hopefully once it happens with these cheaper manifestations, the higher-quality keybeds and smarter features will take root too.

I did, however, gravitate more towards the Arturia MiniFreak during the same session, which is just lovely and nice and I wish I could justify getting one, but I won’t because my next music investment is going to be a bigger workstation kind of synth, that would be a bit more boat friendly than the room full of synths I hardly touch these days ...

(Sold the SH101 and some of my other older/legacy/antique synths already, and now Youtube is sending me videos featuring them, grrr..)
