Thinkin’ Faderfoxen

I’m considering getting the current generation EC modules - the one with
the faders and the one with the encoders.
I know we have a lot of keen users here: how are y’all using such a setup?
Would you reserve some channels for each, say 1-8 for the encoder module,
9-16 for the fader? I like the chrome editor, at least on paper. I’m not
using any DAWs that would have templates, so the editor and MIDI learn will
figure pretty importantly into it.

I’d be grateful for some brass tacks success stories or caveats, please.
