Audio interfaces

And how about the ESI stuff? I'm looking for in-depth reviews, that
don't depend on the perception of the reviewers, who love to use empty
phrases like "an open sound", but they're a bit thin on the ground.
http://www.esi-audio.com/products/u86xt/ (fits exactly what I need, but
no more than that)
http://www.esi-audio.com/products/u168xt/ (quite a bit more than I need,
but has room to grow)
They have (totally non-matching) MIDI interfaces too.
http://www.esi-audio.com/products/m4uxt/ (4 in/out)
http://www.esi-audio.com/products/m8uxl/ (8 in/out, can be rack-mounted,
no longer sold it appears)
Prices are roughly half of the MOTU products. But the fact that the
bigger MIDI interface is still advertised on their site, but difficult
to find on-line, is a bit worrying.
