Hi Tom,
I agree with everything Gert said.
I can recommend the k+h (Klein + Hummel) O96 vintage speakers. They were made for the radio companies and are still being used in many places.
I bought two pairs second hand and I really like their sound and especially their stereo and depth image.
They could do with more bass (sub helps), everything else is really like you'd expect it to be from something that is broadcast quality.
