Time to get out of the box

Hello 'barians
After many years of deliberately making music as much as possible 'inside
the box', I think it's time to get back into hardware. The PO-12 was fun,
some of the iOS synths I have are great to doodle with, but just send audio
out. I've dug out my TR909, replaced my long lost (don't ask) TB-303 with a
TT-303 and G.A.S. is pointing me towards a Mother 32, a 0-coast or even a
possibly a Lyra-8 and...
...I've hit a problem. My old mixer didn't cope well with being in my
parent's loft for nearly 20 years, and it now appears to be trying to match
Lyra in the random buzzy cracky noises department. My griffin iMic has
served me well for audio in duties for decades, but I need more than a
single stereo in. Being 'in the box' means I've pretty much skipped 2
decades of audio interface development, and have no idea of what exists,
what it costs, or which brands are good.
So, I have a question for the bar... What audio interface should I get? I
need it to be be Mac compatible and have 8 to 16-ish line level jack
inputs. I don't need mic/guitar inputs, pre-amps or any outputs, but if I
could get a pair (or more) of cv/gate outputs in the same box that would be
great. I don't need any controls on the box, as I plan to mix everything in
Reason or Logic.
Dose such a thing exist? Should my spec be different? Help!
