The MagicShifter3000 (which is the parent product of the MIDIShifter3000) is progressing nicely, and Phillip (MagicShifter inventor) has just finished a final round of design review for the hardware (PCB), which is good news because this will be ready for us to go in a few weeks time ..

The plan is that we’ll announce a Kickstarter campaign pretty soon, and one of the perks will be the MIDIShifter3000 variant of the product - its exactly a MagicShifter3000, albeit it will come with the MIDI I/O cables you need to rig it up to your synth, and of course will have the MIDIShifter3000 firmware onboard instead of the regular MagicShifter3000 code. (You can switch back and forth, of course.. use MIDIShifter3000 all day in your studio, switch it into MagicShifter mode for the bike-ride home/rave POV toy/looking for keys in the dark..)

The MIDIShifter3000 code is progressing along nicely, I have completed a full refactor needed to make things absolutely perfect for our needs as a MIDI processing workstation. It’ll have a few modes, some fancy light-show modes that are based around things like MIDI clock, activity, etc., there’s a full-blown arpeggiator, a new kind of sequencer system that hasn’t been seen elsewhere, and a couple of other little tricks I’m not going to reveal until the Kickstarter campaign, but! I will give you a hint. The MagicShifter3000 hardware includes WIFI, so .. there’s an onboard web interface for admin/tweaking/config/programming, and there’ll be ways to have multiple MIDIShifter3000’s in your studio, wirelessly talking to each other, each one acting as a MIDI node in the rack, and so on .. you can use 16+ of them together to make your own little mixing console if you like (an accelerometer/gyro/compass is onboard too), and there will be some things that will blow your mind, but not really if you’ve been paying attention to music-bar all these years .. ;)

Trust me, you’re going to want one of these. ;) If not 8, or maybe 16, or .. 32 .. or more! At least one for every synth in your studio. :P

You know I hope you do!
