You know, I thought the same thing at first, that its just one engine with a bunch of skins (which, technically, it is), so I’ve been trying to see if I can make the same sounds on different synth engines (i.e. its ‘just a skin’) but I’ll be damned if I can get the same sound out of different synths.  I’m no expert on the ‘original’ sound of any of these, but there is seriously a lot of variety, and while it may be the same engine underneath, there is some refinement happening, I think.

Okay, the factory presets suck.  I’m not finding anything appealing in any of the builtin patches.  But having all of the different architectures available is very intriguing .. gotta do some recordings.
