Yes, For me it was different. I have always wanted an 808, since about 1994 - and always found the price just ridiculous. The kit for the Yocto is still not cheap (as kits go, there are some makers that offer them for a small markup), and especially since it came from La Reunion (which is EU, but not the customs union...), the import duty was a bit of a bummer.

I guess I paid well over 500EUR, with the metal case and not counting my 40 hours of work (20 sections, each was about 1 hour of sorting, 1 hour of building, maybe a bit less). So it's a great experience, I put every single part in there and it fucking works....! It feels great to groove with a machine like that...;-)
