Thanks Andrew. This is all very interesting stuff..

Thing is I currently have 7 drum machines and a Yocto 808 due in a week. If I went for Ryth it would make 9 so I would defo have to think about selling some..

Still tempting..

Still learning,

One thing thats a little annoying is the multitrack 8 channel max limit per direction, per instrument, so on the Rytm you would think you would want the 8 voices plus the (2) stereo main channels for the effects bus. With the limit you would need to turn off two of the sounds to be able to get the effects bus. Though most of the time I don't use all the channels in a given beat so it's been fine. I have a feeling they might open it up to more channels in the future. Also I'm not sure you can get the analog compressor and overdrive in the mix unless you are just using the main outs, no multitrack. The individual sound still have their own overdrive so it's not a huge deal.

With the Analog keys 8 is not an issue, you can have main stereo effects bus, tracks 1-4, and the external stereo in.

Also I have not really worked out how to process stuff from the daw through the units and back in yet. Those count as extra channels, though in some cases on high end systems you can enable a couple without taking away from your other channels. So I can technically do 10 channels, so 2 additional out to device. But it gives me a warning, I have not tested this yet.

Yea no aggregate devices, it just works. Maybe if you wanted to use it as your sound card along with your other sound card, though I don't know why you would.

…and here’s some info from the manual:

SUITE SOFTWARE COMPONENTS
High performance USB AUDIO DRIVERS for all Overbridge applications, with ASIO, WDM and CoreAudio functionality.
The Overbridge CONTROL PANEL. This application allows you to manage your devices and configure input/ output channels for each device as well as alter the global performance settings.
Dedicated Overbridge PLUGINS. A VST plugin for each Elektron Analog instrument that acts as an audio bridge between your device and your software DAW project. The plugin will bring individual channels of your Overbridge device straight into the DAW, as if the device was a software instrument, without fidgeting with sound card settings or multiple audio cables.
WIDE RANGE OF USES
MULTITRACKING. Record individual tracks from your Overbridge devices - including the Analog Four, regardless of the fact that it lacks individual hardware outputs - straight into your DAW, with a single USB connection.
Use your Overbridge devices as REAL ANALOG PLUGINS in your DAW. Multiple devices can be used at the same time, provided your computer is equipped with multiple dedicated USB ports or you use a high performance MTT USB hub.
CONTROL AND AUTOMATION. Modulate multiple parameters on your Elektron Analog instrument simultaneously and in real time, using software controls and physical controls interchangeably.
SOUND CARD. The audio drivers included in the suite allow you to use your Overbridge device as a high performance and high quality sound card.

So it seems you won’t have to use it as a regular audio device...
