Sound Forge - alternatives?

Yeah, I kind of thought this was the case but just wanted to check.

 

Also, my upgrade is only 70euro and if starting again, 70euro probably would not buy too much..

 

Also also, I don’t actually need to upgrade – just doing it because that’s what we do, right?!

I still think it's the best thing out there but to be honest, I haven't looked that hard lately.

I've used it for ever and whilst it does what it does, even a decade ago I thought it looked dated and it has not change much since then..
