would you think you're getting any closer like, say, 500 meters?
what's the topography, the expected ambient noise?
Did ever record thunder or fireworks?
Why not use a 'shotgun' (interference tube) mic?
if you expect lots of (early) reflections (topography) use x/y mics.
scan youtube for demolition clips to get an idea.
