Same goes for 2D cutting. Crazily! I get some things laser-cut every now and then, and the software situation is a mess. I quite like SketchUp as a design tool, but to then get the right files to cut I have to do a PDF export… import into Illustrator. Clean up, make sure the scales are all nice ’n tight, add funky layer names, then do a DXF-export and hope everything went well.

I also tried AutoCad and DraftSight… but holy fuck that is a big pile of crap.

For me the attraction in Carvey is the promise of the software (Easel) which knows about materials/drill bits and integration with the box itself. That is worth to me quite a bit…
