Was this answered??
Tim – yes, the Samsung application is specifically designed for their SSD drives so it takes care of everything. If you ignore my experiences, it is all very simple and quick.. :)

Thanks Mohsen and Paul
Sounds like my next SSD upgrade might be a Samsung drive, as this transfer application seemingly.takes a lot of the pain away.
Do you know if this app also aligned the partitions?

I think we might have the same drives :) as mine is the Samsung 850 Evo 500gb (not the Pro version).
I have the transfer software but the first attempt failed as said it could not defrag my existing drive. So, Im doing a tidy up (a 8 hour move!!) then going do my own defrag and try again..
Fun fun fun..

I just recently bought a Samsung 512G Evo line SSD, and with the transfer software that it came with, the swap was just about invisible. $220 or so for the drive and included software.

Hey Mohsen
Yeah, I would prefer to keep to two PCs but Im going to give it a go with just the one. Ordered that new monitor and just took delivery of a 500gb SSD which Im currently TRYING to get setup as my main OS drive without re-installing everything.. After that I can start the fun process of installing stuff but this time I have the luxury of still having my existing DAW online so no real down-time..

There is definitely a place for multiple machines. These days I have the (new) MacPro for DAW and general work, and I have a second Win machine that has all the development tools and materials I need for the CS courses that I teach. I also use that second machine for the VM connection to my machine at work. The second machine has no monitors, keyboards, etc., and I use multiple desktops from my MacPro to switch between the machines.
