It's Ukulele time

I got my mom a ukulele for her birthday

I had them put a passive pickup in mine. Was wondering if anyone recommends fun things to run nylon strings through? Do some effects lend themselves better to this type of guitar vs steel/electric. My echoplex will of course be #1 on the list to try.
