One memorable trip from Heerlen to Cologne with a change in Aachen featured four trains, all German, of which three were late (and by a considerable amount of time). The only one that left on time was from the Netherlands, with a Dutch driver. :)

You must have been using the 'poor peoples trains', not the big fast posh ICE's that I was used to .. ;)  Well, to be fair, I rode a lot of the little trains too, but never had a problem with them being late - except one time during some summer heatwave, when the tracks were bending all over the Rührgebiet .. and then there was the time there was a riot on the train around Gelsenkirchen, but that was only fair.
