whatever reservations i have about the feel of playing the surface, the
engineering and the motivation are really impressive, as too (like with
eigenharp) actually bringing something like this to market
my earlier comment about the physicality of instruments relates to their
response to subtle gestures that the musician is largely consciously
unaware of, and yet which become integral, here, as with eigenharp,
the gestures are clear and large-scale, and certainly missing from
a piano or piano-like keyboard, therefore adding some, and yet, the
tell-tale shake of wood or bow or noisy transistor, is excluded,
putting the musician totally in control.
the last word is supposed to be perjorative, btw ;)
