A new expression controller every day

these keyboards are making the false promise of expression through
control, rather than experimentation and inspiration; technically
amazing, it seems like a matrix controller like push et al provides
access to far more relevant musical parameters, taking music from a
momentary sound to some kind of evolving storytelling.
i'd sooner see the likes of push become directed towards more abstract
realms (which it will be, via max et al), than be confronted by the
reframed familiar that comes from old paradigms with minor changes.
furthermore, the complexity of physical instruments (including a lot of
analogue electronics) is so deep, and the ways of getting them to make
sounds, so varied, that it seems as if music itself is the parameter
which requires modulation.
