My favourite album of all time.

Had a listen this morning, some nice tracks there :-)

I'd say "Power, corruption and Lies" by New Order from 1983.

Wasn't easy, had to make a list and do a quick listen but I'd say this one triggers the most emotions :-)

Runner up's:
Clan of Xymox - Clan of Xymox, 1985
Depeche Mode - A broken frame, 1982
Human League - Dare, 1981
Simple Minds - New Gold Dream, 1982
Soft Cell - Non-stop Erotic Cabaret, 1981
David Sylvian - Secrets of the beehive, 1987
Twice a Man - From a northern shore, 1984
Ultravox - Rage in eden, 1981

I guess you're formed by the music you listen to as a teenager :-)

If I'm going to recommend a more recent artist/album it's "The Alternative" by IAMX
