korg mono/poly or polysix

So he is using the 808 to trigger the gate of the monopoly. I feel like I should know this but how would I do this digitally in say Live with a plugin? I could use an audio gate synced to a drum track but I want it to actually trigger the synth so I can use an envelope on the filter...
