The Minibrute I tried in the shop a while back fit that description but
the Microbrute I just bought definitely does not. The knobs and sliders
are all very solid and the keyboard seems reasonable for what it is
(reminds me of my old Korg Microcontrol).

It is supposed to send velocity over MIDI (though I have no way to
confirm that). I doubt the knobs the send MIDI though, other than maybe
the pitch and mod wheels. The only thing on it that I have any
questions about quality wise are the patch points (time will tell).

Seems sacrilege to use it with MIDI anything though. . .

=)

This might sound weird but it's almost frustratingly musical. If your
goal is to have a synth for gnarly solo lines I doubt there is a better
deal out there. It's Minimal wave / Rick Wakeman / Tobacco in a box
that costs $300 CAN. It's harder to coax noises and textures out of it
due to the shortish envelopes though the volume knob and fine tune pitch
knob on the back help working around that. Once I get the pitch wheel
range increased (via the editor) I'll be happier.

I'd love to see a slightly expanded version with longer envelopes, more
patch points and no keyboard.

Cheers
