Tracker software?

Hi Bar,

Just wondering, if you were to recommend some sort of DAW-like music 
software, that has a tracker interface, which one would it be?

Some requirements:

  * It has to be _simple_. I can't stand overly complex software any longer.
  * Must have a tracker interface (although it could support other
    interfaces or direct recording).
  * Runs on Windows (but not as a Windows 8 app), or perhaps Linux or
    Android.
  * Inexpensive.
  * Must support MIDI, preferably also via a software MIDI synth.


The idea is to hook up the synths upstairs via some sort of network 
connection to the computer downstairs. That would require some 
investment, hence the support for a software MIDI synth.
