If you have watched any of the making of stuff for "Blade Runner" it seems 
pretty obvious that movies succeed in spite of Ridley Scott as opposed to 
because of.  The guy does not seem to have any vision other than spending as 
much money as possible and hoping something good comes of it.  

In the "Blade Runner" case luckily there were enough people with vision 
underneath him to build a classic film out of the ensuing flotsam but outside of 
that and his reshoot of "Planet Of The Vampires" (aka "Alien"), what has 
Ridley Scott been involved with that wasn't just typical Hollywood fare?
