To add. It is generally accepted, probably highway code, that cyclists 
stay toward the kerb on roads without cycle provisions, but obviously on 
roads where there is filtered traffic lanes for turning/straight on etc. 
you can't expect a cyclist to not be in the correct lane and have to get 
off the bike at every intersection etc. blah.
