Are you recording so many devices at the same time or is it mostly to avoid
to ''plug-unplug'' many devices ?
Otherwise imo your advice is right about the pci card compare to firewire
and Usb ..

But why not considering  to find a pci rme + the fireface, now days they
are quite affordable in second hand ..
