iPad Question - iTunes sharing

If you want to watch movies without having to convert them to an iTunes-friendly format, get Plex
http://www.plexapp.com/
To use it, install the free Plex Media Server on your Windows machine and then buy the (reasonably priced) Plex app for your iPad.
If you sign up for a free myPlex account you can access your library from anywhere.
