Thanks for all your comments,
and yes before I start a kickstarter I'll make sure I have someone who can
help with the finance side of things, and yes someone I trust.

as regards CE, basically *ANYTHING* you sell must be CE compliant. be it a
synth, a radar or a cuddly toy.
Or category has a set of directives it must follow.

A PSU with a CE mark on *ONLY* covers the PSU, nothing else.

There's a bunch of directives, but the one that applies in this case is the
Low Voltage directive (2006/95/EC) -
http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/sectors/electrical/lvd/

it's not difficult to get CE approval, and luckily I have friends who have
access to equipment for testing emissions and such (not that Emissions
apply in this instance).

you don't NEED a CE test to get CE approval, but you do need a lot of
documentation.

i've done about 2 months of digging on the subject because of looking into
selling Gorf-XL (CV version of gorf) as an assembled unit.
what's interesting, particularly for modular people, is that CE approval
ONLY covers the instance it was designed for. so if I deisgn it fit in my
modular, have it tested in my modular and someone buys it who doesn't have
the same modules as me, CE doesn't apply.. but it is still legally required
(i.e. it's nuts).

I've also been looking at business partners and deciding what to look for
in them and how to work with them.
I've also been looking at business plans and such, as I'd like to have
something ready to show.

however, my preferred approach is to find someone to run the finance side
of things and leave the design and such to myself. I'm not keen on having
someone say "I think XXX is a good idea", unless they have evidence (market
research or whatever) to back it up.

Thank you for all your support guys, it really means a lot to me, more than
I have words to say.

Paul
