The CERN experiment ..

Do you guys remember the music-bar member who was part of the team building CERN?  I've forgotten his name (no longer with us?) but I read this interesting article about the FPGA work at CERN and its influence on the recent OPERA test that gave us 'faster than light neutrinos', and I'm wondering if our music-bar guy was involved in that some way?  I remember him mentioning something about the FPGA arrangement ..
